Hamilton: On the Road to the Tony’s

We've got all your Hamilton Tony nominations!

‍“Hamilton” has been sweeping the nation, becoming one of the select few Broadway shows that crosses beyond the theatrical world and into pop culture. The show, written and composed by Lin-Manuel Miranda, who also stars as Alexander Hamilton, shares the life and legacy of the Founding Father with new fervor. The hip-hip score serves as a perhaps-surprisingly perfect vehicle for the tale of the American Revolution. And revolutionary is the musical indeed, employing a cast largely comprised of people of color and raising questions about the essence of history. “Who lives? Who dies? Who tells your story?”

To top it all off, “Hamilton” made history recently by garnering a record 16 Tony Award nominations. The previous record for 15 was shared by “The Producers” and “Billy Elliot.” The record for most awards (12) is held by “The Producers” and may be difficult for “Hamilton” to beat because some categories hold multiple nominees from “Hamilton” this year. In all, the musical is nominated for 13 separate categories.

Here’s a roundup of all of Hamilton’s record-breaking Tony nominations.
